ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #41

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

I don't have much to report this week. My podcast obsession is about to reach an unhealthy height. So much so that I'm not sure how or when I'll be able to listen to the horrendous amount of new album releases from the this week. Also... no that's about it. I haven't done anything this week, well, anything remotely interesting. I'm trying to come up with a new feature thing, to do with playlists and food but it's far harder than I initially thought it would be.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
‘Sink with the Snakes’ is in a league of its own and is genuinely up there amongst the best songs that Fightstar have ever released. I did find the slow main chorus part a little disappointing though, I don’t feel like there was any need to slash momentum like they did, but that aside this is absolutely excellent.

Monday
Frankmusik has a new album, it’s called ‘For You’ and it came out last week and it’s really good. ‘I Remember’ is a single from said album and it’s EXCELLENT. I’m really hung up on the fact that Frankmusik is still producing great music but no one’s really paying attention. It’s kind of heartbreaking to see so much hype around an artist on their debut that just trails off on their later material even though the music doesn’t dip in standard at all. Also, check out some of Vincent's responses to the comments on this video.

Tuesday
Unlike all the tracks we’ve heard from Kiiara previously over the last few months, I didn’t immediately fall in love with ‘Intention’. But over the last seven days I’ve grown to really enjoy it. ‘Intention’ is more sultry than her previous tracks, definitely more of a slow jam kind of vibe. Kiiara is building up quite an impressive catalogue, maybe/hopefully we’ll see some sort of EP from her soon *fingers crossed*

Wednesday
Is this real? Is ‘Something New’ actually real life? How can something that sounds this huge be a debut track? Who are these guys? How did they come up with this? Why do I have so many questions? Whilst deliberating various combinations of those aforementioned questions, I thought ‘Something New’ sounded quite similar to Fun. And I mean “Fun” as in the band, and actually Secret Weapons are supporting Nate Ruess (of Fun) on tour in November. Seems fitting.

Throwback Thursday
I can not believe that I hadn’t posted this song before now… have I been high this whole time?! I seem to learn(/refresh my memory) a lot about deaths/hiatuses whilst researching for TBT things. Today’s example of this is that I did not realise Scissor Sisters were on hiatus. How can they even? Imagine dropping an album with a song like ‘Let’s Have A Kiki’ on it and then being like “nah… we’re gonna give this a rest for a little while”. NOT. AN. OPTION.

Friday
‘Soho Knights’ is really complex but in such a beautiful way. I had to sit down and listen to this and so few artists are making music that you really need to concentrate on at the moment. Leks Rivers’ video for ‘Soho Knights’ is great as well. I’ve been trying to find a way to describe it, but if you grew up in the 90s there’s no way you won’t appreciate its entire vibe.

Saturday
Absolutely ages ago I did an interview with Press To Meco. They released their debut this week so I felt as though it was only fair that I got around to posting this. You can read the interview in full here and you can listen to some excerpts from the interview below.
