ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #50

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

Welcome to the final What If I Had A Music Blog ICYMI. No longer will these pointless weekly summaries be a burden on anyone's existence. And that's nice isn't it. End of year posts start on here tomorrow, and I don't have a schedule for those yet, so that's probably something that I should draw up today but also probably something that I won't actually draw up today... we'll see. Anyway, that was 2015, this is the end. Goodbye.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
‘Walk With Me’ narrowly missed featuring on WIIHAMB earlier this year but now that KOA have given the track a new lease of life, it’s come back around and here for all your listening pleasure. KOA’s remix gives the Cosmo’s Midnight song a more commercial dance feel and it honestly works so so well.

Monday
‘No Filter’ comes from New York based producer Black Coast. If WIIHAMB was to have some kind of anthem where the lyrics of a song described what the blog is like, this might be it. That also might be a case of me thinking I’m so much more edgy than I actually am but whatever. “I say what I want when I wanna / say what you want, I don’t give a” all feels pretty accurate. Madison Love’s vocals fit this track so perfectly too - the attitude of Tove Lo but the smoothness of Halsey all rolled into one.

Tuesday
Stoked to come back here in a years time with a huge smirk on my face and for Asha to be absolutely huge. ‘Record Straight’ is the third successive R’n’B smasher that we’ve heard from Asha, and if it’s only up from here, who knows what catastrophic heights that the London based songstress could reach.

Wednesday

2016 Tip Lists

I spent some time compiling this totally rad diagram as well as voting in the Blog Sound of 2016 poll and writing about all of that etc.

Throwback Thursday
‘F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X‘ was definitely the first mathy/techy track I got into when I started investing solely in rock music, and without it I don’t think I’d like a lot of the rock music that I enjoy today. It was, and still is, the infectious vocal melodies that really grabbed me upon first hearing this song. It’s insane that amongst all of the guitar chaos there’s still something reminiscent of a pop song going on over the top.

Friday
As we begin to attempt rounding off 2015, there’s one thing that sincerely must not follow us into 2016. In light of this, Donna Missal has released the ‘Hotline Bling’ cover to end all Hotline Bling covers. Thank God for that. Surely, surely there is nobody on the planet listening to the frankly God-awful original any more. And to be quite honest with Missal’s version now sitting alongside Alessia Cara’s as just overall far better songs, Drake is essentially rendered redundant.

Saturday
I would love to draw your attention to my mates over at UQ who are doing this TOTALLY RAD AS FUCK Advent Calendar thing at the moment featuring their Class of 2016 AKA artists they think are gonna be even cooler next year than they were this year. Astrid S featured on UQ’s magical mystery tour of cool new things earlier this week and it was my first experience hearing the nineteen year old Norwegian. This is the kind of alt-pop that we love to love, right? I’d love for her to crossover to this whole UK market thing in 2016 like fellow Scandinavian Zara Larsson did this year.

I thought ‘Love Me’, what I’d like to refer to as The 1975′s “comeback single”, was bad. Categorically not good, and I was thoroughly disappointed. I do enjoy the four-piece’s music after all, it’s mainly just their image and aesthetic and “brand” that I don’t get, and I felt that ‘Love Me’ played into that a lot. ‘UGH!’, however, is an undoubted return to form. Unlike their previous single, the song alone is good enough that you can ignore the fact that Matty Healy is parading around half-dressed in the video yet again. More like this for the album please.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #49

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

For anyone who does take a passing interest in these little snippets, you may or may not notice some little changes on this here site - some good, some not so good, but it's all a work in progress etc. I'm really looking forward to WIIHAMB next year. Especially considering that my artist curated playlist feature concept came to me last night and had LITERALLY been staring me in the face this whole time. So that's good. I've also whittled down my songs and EPs of the year. Albums list is still very questionable and may contain Rae Sremmurd.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
‘It’s All In Vain’ is the opening track from Wet’s forthcoming debut album 'Don’t You'. This is going to sound weird okay, but there are vocal lines and melodies in this track that remind me of Spice Girls’ ‘2 Become 1′. I don’t know how or why but those are just the feels I feel. This is just as lovely as ‘2 Become 1′ though, and just lovely in its own right really. I can’t find a preliminary date for the release of Wet’s album, but hopefully it’s not too far into 2016 *crosses fingers*.

Monday
Lara Maxen is sooo fresh on the scene that the first tweet on her Twitter account was a mere five days ago. We don't know much about Maxen but her Soundcloud states that we may be receiving “new music every month” from her. Could she be the new Oh Wonder?! It’s possible. Let us not continue without acknowledging Mickey Valen’s tiiight as hell production on ‘Your Anything’, essentially making this the type of debut track that others strive for. If there’s going to be a song this close to Christmas that’s bound to get pop fans excited for what the future holds, this has to be it.

Tuesday
Since I posted ‘Baptize’ waaaay back in April 2014 RKCB have been drip-feeding the songs that make up their debut EP ‘Short Films’. ‘Lights Low’ is the sixth and final track that completes the EP; it’s also quite possibly my favourite track. The lyrics in the chorus give me the utmost of feels with the likes of “you only want me when the lights low / now that you’re drinking will you say you need me”. This is the sort of song I could happily sit and cry to on repeat for days.

Wednesday
I get such serious Sohn vibes from this track and that is really cool because whilst really, Jarbird’s ‘Such Is The House’ sounds absolutely nothing like Sohn, the similarity is some of the elements makes it almost instantly relatable. The lyrics appear to focus on self-perception and self-worth which is all pretty heavy but when put with music that sounds like this and vocals that sound like that, things don’t seem quite so stern.

Throwback Thursday
The greatest debut album singles UK indie band other than The Kooks? Yeah, reckon so. I don’t know the first time I heard The Fratellis but this was the first song I heard and I fell completely in love with it. Whilst ‘Creepin Up The Backstairs’ is not the most radio-friendly of the singles from their debut album ‘Costello Music’, I do think that it is genuinely the best, it just suffered from debut single syndrome.

Friday
'Come & Go’ genuinely is new pop punk at its finest. After the “loss” of A Loss For Words this year, to me, it’s as though Broadside have literally just stepped in, picked things up, and got on with it in the best way. The thing about ‘Come & Go’ is that there’s just so much going on the whole time. There’s not a dull moment for the entire duration of the song. You know when a song sounds like it’s actually five songs in one and it’s really confusing? Well this is like that, but without any aspect of confusion. Every section and element flows into the other so seamlessly and I don’t know how a fan of pop punk could not fall in love with this, and Broadside overall.

Saturday
Oh you thought I was joking? Lol no. I’m becoming extremely obsessed with this at a rate that is probably putting my health at risk. After seeing her on Monday, I also have a huge new found appreciation for Carly Rae Jepsen. And this is just so fun. Imagine being a fun enough human to record your single in a language that DOESN’T EXIST. Yeah, pretty fun. The best thing though, is that this genuinely sounds absolutely ridiculous and it completely does not matter in the slightest.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #48

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

Reading back on last weeks ICYMI, apparently I thought I was going to switch everything over this weekend... lol. Instead I've been playing Until Dawn. End of year lists are coming together extremely slowly but mildly surely. Other than that, I only went to one show this week and it was to see my sometimes favourites Yearbook and they were lovely. So that's that. Week 48, eh? The end is nigh.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
What do you mean it’s Sunday night? I don’t care for your facts because Lenno is certainly telling me otherwise with his disco infused ‘Fever’. Lenno is Finnish and a mere 20 years old which all sounds very promising. I’m struggling to find anything about the mysterious Benson whose vocals feature on this track other than that he’s from the UK… but I’m sure he’ll enlighten us when he’s ready.

Monday
No Rest In November - Not a Round-Up (But It Kinda Is)
I wrote about a couple of releases that I thought were really rad last week and also a load of shows that I went to that I thought were cool and stuff.

Tuesday
LATE CONTENDER FOR SONG OF THE YEAR. Brace yourselves WIIHAMB fans, brace yourselves. ‘Colorblind Cruisin’ is taken from Sofi de la Torre’s new EP ‘Mess’ and essentially it’s all so totally rad as fuck. Her “thing” is #popdoneright and I literally could not possibly agree more. The whole EP is so great, such a lovely thing to surprise me towards the end of the year, but this track is really really special. According to her Twitter bio it would also appear that Sofi eats burgers, which is cool, because anyone that doesn’t obviously can’t be trusted.

Wednesday
‘Sweet Innocence’ is by far my favourite song from Louis Mattrs’ latest EP ‘Slow Waves’ which was released last week. I don’t know if this is mostly due to the fact that Elli Ingram features on it or not, but look, Elli Ingram is great and we haven’t heard much from her this year, SO THIS GOT ME STOKED. Anyway, she’s not credited and I don’t know why but I’d also quite like to not get into matters (no pun intended) that I don’t understand. In short, this is a lovely little song that I have thoroughly enjoyed hearing over the past week or so.

Throwback Thursday
It’s not a party if there is no Kevin Lyttle involved in said party. Is there actually anybody on the planet who doesn’t rate this song? Kevin Lyttle paved the way for Caribbean artists with dreadfully great songs though didn’t he? Look at Omi flying now. Would he be here if it weren’t for Lyttle? Who knows, but I’m inclined to believe he wouldn’t be. Although, I think if ‘Turn Me On’ had first seen the light of day in 2015, we probably wouldn’t love it a fraction of the amount that we do.

Friday
Kyko is a guy who I had… kind of written off before now. His music was fine but in all honesty I didn't think that it was anything special. Until now. I would assume that Kyko had been sitting on his ‘Animals’ EP, which was released earlier this year, for a while and now he’s in a far better position to make what I would say is far better music. I have no idea how true any of this is, but it’s what I would assume. ‘Pull Me Up’ is a lovely step up from ‘Animals’, and I think it’s a far better showcase of what the London based 19 year old is capable of.

Saturday
‘Gone In The Morning’ is the follow up to ‘Cold Love’, which was Etham’s first single in his new guise. Upon the first listen to this track I was very “yeah, but what’s so special about this?” Three listens later, what is so special is that even though the elements within this song are far from new, piano based sultry R’n’B pop, it has been done exceedingly well here. Purely on the basis of commercial appeal, it would be ridiculous not to tip Etham for big things in the future… maybe not as soon as 2016, but if he carries on like this, it’s not far off.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #47

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

I went to see Beartooth and Bury Tomorrow this week but that's kind of it and just another reason why these weekly excerpts about my life need to stop existing. The big change is probably going to happen next weekend now, I can't remember if I've said this already or not, but I'm saying it now. End of year stuff is also leaving me in an absolute #state. Best/favourite/Songs I liked the most of 2015 are "shortlisted" but I think the list is about 60 long so that list isn't really short at all. Anyway, these I my problems, not yours.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
‘Feeling Like A God’ is brash. In your face, raw, and brash, and that’s what makes it so great. The Kanye soundbite at the start is only a slight indicator of what follows over the next three minutes. New York based producer IdoVsTheWorld, who has previously worked with the likes of Shawn Mendes, has teamed up with Nottingham based doer of rad covers Joel Baker for this unique slice of… off-the-wall soulful drum and bass madness. Joel Baker’s storytelling here is a pretty cool listen too.

Monday
As a human I’m hard to please and I really don't like change. This is heightened when I really like someone’s stuff and then they go and release stuff that sounds kinda different. But fear not because this is absolutely excellent. 'Pressure' is still very “Youth Club” but not quite as sugary as their last EP was which is totally cool.

Tuesday
Seeing as we’re now edging the end of November, I feel as though it’s a safe time to claim that this is the best cover I’ve heard all year and definitely one of the better collaborations too. IT’S SO PERFECT. In fact, it’s absolutely flawless. I didn’t think that I needed a 2015 version of ‘Easy Lover’ until now, but I really really do, and so do you. Oooh and this is a free download!

Wednesday
Walking On Cars do a thing that other “bands” of this ilk do not do, and I don’t know what that “thing” is but it makes their songs nothing short of perfect. I’m not sure how offensive this comparison is, but the five-piece are almost like 2015′s answer to Snow Patrol. And for the record, I love Snow Patrol. Huge, heartfelt, emotional pop rock that makes you feel things. And if things weren’t great enough, Walking On Cars’ debut album is set for release at the end of January!

Thursday
One Month, Five Albums, and an Air of Disappointment
I listened to some of this month's biggest releases and found them exceedingly average. Then I wrote about how average they were. There's a table. And a new and improved Ellie Goulding album.

Friday
I think that the classic “singer/songwriter” trope has become a little boring and tired… no, that’s a lie, it is boring and tired. But Adam French doesn’t seem to fit that standard mould. There’s something super interesting and different about both his vocals and his songwriting. ‘Hunter’ was released this week along with another new track titled ‘Punchbag Love’. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I’m really looking forward to the prospect of hearing a lengthier release from French in 2016.

Saturday
Imagine being me and ignoring this song when I first saw it and waiting for it to find me again. IMAGINE being that dismissive. What was I thinking? DiRTY RADiO are a Canadian three-piece who do rad as fuck pop/dance music. ‘Numbers’ is really cool, and the vocals are suuuuch a vibe. I don’t really know what I’m chatting about, basically, this song is great and if you’re quick you can get it as a free download here

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #46

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

This week has primarily been taken over by end of year lists. Which blows my mind because we're not even near the end of November yet. But with all the blog change that I want to enforce, getting all of that stuff ready before Christmas is now mildly imperative. In other news I took part in my first pub quiz this week and it was entirely music based and also a pretty solid lol. Would recommend.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
In “celebration” of his 20th birthday, actual love of my life Thomston has released a new song called ‘brain-dead’. The most important thing that we can take from the release of this track is that there is an album on the way/in the works/soon. ‘brain-dead’ is the kind of song we’ve come to expect from Thomston but it definitely holds its own amongst his other material.

Monday
One of my 2015 favourites, Lostboycrow, has just put out this quirky little number titled ‘Talk Back To Me’. This is exactly what I like about Lostboycrow, you never really know what to expect from one of his new songs but you can guarantee that it’s going to sound great. I think I said this quite recently when I last posted Lostboycrow but I’m so so so excited to hear a fuller length release from him. Also, free download!

Tuesday
Another free download, spoilin' ya this week. I love this so much that even my iTunes play count can't keep track of how many times I've listened to it. I haven’t posted anything from Joe Hertz since June 2014 which was absolutely ages ago so I’m really glad that I like this as much as I do. I have noted that there are some lines throughout ‘Tied Up’s chorus that sound quite similar to the chorus of Pharrell’s ‘Frontin’’ however this is definitely not a bad thing but I do get very distracted every time.

Wednesday
After the most gruelling wait of my life (not really, but it has been quite a while) the bookend to KLOE’s 2015 trilogy is here in the form of ‘Touch’. You know you assume that everybody from places you’re not from knows each other? Well, solidifying this assumption is the fact that ‘Touch’ was produced by KLOE’s fellow Glaswegian Lewis Gardiner of Prides fame. There’s a video for ‘Touch’ on the way which I am so so so much more than excited to cast my eyes upon.

Throwback Thursday
Absolutely can not believe that I’m yet to post a Girls Aloud song, and what better choice than debut single and absolute iconic banger ‘Sound of the Underground’. I thoroughly enjoyed this at the time of its inception and I reckon I enjoy it just as much now.

Friday
I have never been a Kyla La Grange fan, and I’m not sure what’s changed, whether it’s me or the music, but I think her new track ‘Skin’ is excellent. ‘Skin’ sounds like FKA Twigs got told to tone it down and then met up with Transviolet and together they poured their hearts out about an old significant other who they want to get one over on. The more I think about it, it’s really cool that Kyla La Grange has managed to encompass loads of things I liked in 2015 into one super thing that I really like. Solid cry into your pillow on a Sunday night vibe, this one.

Saturday
It has taken me a stupid amount of time to get into this, but it’s finally happened and we can now all rest in peace. ‘Superman’ has been great the whole time though, and the fault lied… laid… was with me. I found the lyrics to the chorus mildly uninspiring and kind of just gave up on it. But I’m over that now and we can all sit around and give Louis Mattrs the attention he deserves. Louis Mattrs is in fact releasing his new EP, Slow Waves, next Friday and I am so excited. Especially excited for the LK Faith collab, it’s probably going to equate to multiple fire emojis, let’s be honest.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #45

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

News this week is that in the new year What If I Had A Music Blog is changing. I won't be posting daily anymore, but I'll still be posting super regularly with a mix of new songs, review type things, thoughts like things. You know, just, keeping it real. Which means that I will no longer be posting monthly round-ups or ICYMIs which is great news for me because they've started to become a bit of a chore. So that's that. For now I'll continue to plod along as usual, but you have been warned...

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
Deaf Havana and I have had a rocky relationship over the years. ‘Cassiopeia’ sounds like a return to the music Deaf Havana were making straight after Ryan Mellor left the band - you know, ‘Smiles All Round’ and ‘My Life Is Average’. This song has come as a really pleasant surprise and I’m actually super glad that I like it. I’d be really happy is this was going to be the direction for all their new material.

Monday
I think Chinah are by far one of my favourite new new new bands to appear during 2015. This is the third track that the Danish trio have put out and it’s just as excellent as the previous two. There’s still no word on an EP release or anything from Chinah though which makes me so nervous. I JUST NEED MORE.

Tuesday
Since first posting XY&O a couple of months back I have been more than eagerly awaiting new material from this Welsh trio. Luckily for us all, we don’t need to wait any longer as their new track ‘Fahrenheit’, the third to be taken from their forthcoming debut EP, is here. This song is so summery it actually almost hurts to be listening to it in mid-November.

Wednesday
Shakka - The Lost Boys EP
In light of events discussed at the top of this post, I decided that I couldn't hold back on easing in the new format. After listening through to Shakka's debut major label release I was so overly enthused about things that all I wanted to do was talk about it. And so that's what I did right here.

Throwback Thursday
Another iconic One Tree Hill music moment. I couldn’t actually remember the scene this was in, but after a quick Google search it would appear that it’s from a scene in Season 1 where Hayley and Nathan first kiss, which is nice isn’t it. This is actually one of the far better songs I’ve posted for Throwback Thursday in a long while. Shout out to my iTunes Library for this one.

Friday
This is a solid little tune isn’t? We’ve all got over the whole “Mabel has famous parents” thing now too haven’t we? And now we can just appreciate her and ‘My Boy My Town’ in their own right. I’m not sure whether this whole vibey RnB thing is going to get a little bit tired over the next six months/year but for the moment I’m very happy with how it’s sounding.

Saturday
‘Cut Me Clean’ was released over a month ago but we’re all well aware by now that my emails and I don’t get along at the best of times. Yo Mighty! are described as a mysterious Danish DJ / production collective which always fills me with a mild amount of fear - why so secretive guys?! Raphaella is a London based artist whose type vocals are the sort you’d hear on your standard pop/dance crossover song but there’s something a littler quirkier about Raphaella’s voice that adds a slightly different element to ‘Cut Me Clean’.

Welcome to Natalie’s Idea of a Ballad Lesson #1568: Sometimes things break the rules. Don Broco’s new single ‘Nerve’, taken from their second album ‘Automatic’, is a prime example of this. ‘Nerve’ is one of the best tracks on Don Broco’s most recent album and although it’s not a single I would have chosen, I think those who aren’t as familiar with Don Broco or ‘Automatic’ will be pleasantly surprised upon hearing it.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #44

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

IT WAS MY REAL LIFE BIRTHDAY THIS WEEK WAHEY! So life is a little delicate today. But it does mean that things I did this week were far more exciting than other recent weeks. I went to see Steven A Clark on Monday which was great and I also bought a copy of his album which still isn't out here for another couple of weeks. Saw and met Lany who were great and I can't wait for them to come back to the UK. By some kind of miracle I managed to fit in seeing both Huntar and Jack Garratt on the same night at opposite ends of the city. And I finally got to see Ms Mr for the first time ever, so that was cool!

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
Contender for song of the year reappears on WIIHAMB thanks to a brilliant remix from Karma Kid. In all seriousness though, what happened with ‘Ocean Drive’?! That should have been at least top five here. Unbelievably there are SEVEN official remixes of ‘Ocean Drive’ which is beyond excessive, if you ask me. This is the only one I’ve heard though, and as a longterm fan of Karma Kid, I thought I’d give it a share.

Monday
I firstly have to apologise for the fact that this song has been sitting in my drafts for a good few weeks now. There was no need for me to wait that long. I think the last time I posted Wolfie I detailed out my plans for a music video but I’m fresh out of ideas today… probably because it’s Monday and that’s nobody’s vibe. ‘Seeds’ is nothing short of lovely though. Really looking forward to hearing where Wolfie is going with all this sweet material in the future because it sounds great. Oh and this is a free download!!!

Tuesday
I often feel as though you can put faith into the majority of tracks from Future Classic before you’ve heard them, like, generally, they’re going to be excellent. And Wafia’s ‘Heartburn’ is absolutely no exception. ‘Heartburn’ is Wafia’s first “official” single and it’s taken from her forthcoming XXIX EP. Wafia hails from Australia and at this rate I’m going to have no choice but to make a playlist of cool young artists coming out of there, aren’t I? ‘Heartburn’ is Banks-esque eerie R’n’B/pop and is absolutely stunning.

Wednesday
Covers of songs as big as The Weeknd’s recent singles can often be pretty uninspired but that is not the case here in the slightest. Jasmine Thompson covered ‘Earned It’ on her YouTube channel 6 months ago but recently young producer Steve James has put his own spin on it turning the track into something else entirely. Thompson’s vocals are next level stunning and haunting throughout too. This is also a free download, hoorah!

My favourites Light You Up just released a new video, which is cool because I no idea this was coming. ‘Monsters’ is taken from their debut album All We’ve Ever Known but they’ve been playing it live for absolutely 5eva, hence all that sweet tour footage featured in the video. Light You Up are also on a little UK run next week which will be fun to attend won’t it!

Throwback Thursday
In hindsight, Still Remains aren’t as good as I thought they were when I was 15, and to be honest I wasn’t rrreally into them but the girl I liked was into them and that’s that really. I did like ‘The Worst Is Yet To Come’ though because of the clean chorus, I thought it was cool. This is yet another tbt spurred from an office argument over which song to post… I don’t care, there’s no way in hell I’m posting Aiden. Ever.

Friday
Firstly, let me be clear, I am generally not a fan of the work of either ZHU or Skrillex but praise the Lord for THEY. because THIS IS GREAT. Another one of those: when things you don’t like come together to form a thing that you do like. I don’t even know where to begin attempting to describe what this sounds like, which is handy really because I don’t have to due to the majority of people who stumble across this post possessing ears. ZHU’s been working on this whole Genesis Series thing which is essentially a bunch of songs with different collaborators. On paper the EP looks incredible but of the songs I’ve heard the only one I’ve really been impressed by is ‘Working For It’, which is a shame.

Saturday
Goldlink just released his new album ‘And After That, We Didn’t Talk’ - REJOICE! Early single ‘Dance On Me’ was probably an indicator that this album was going to be far more pop than his last and God does it sound grrreat. ‘Unique’ is a further display of what ‘Dance On Me’ hinted at; if I was into pointlessly naming things, I’d call this hip pop.

‘Criminals’ is my favourite song from MS MR’s latest album ‘How Does It Feel’ so you can only IMAGINE how excited I am that it’s now a single with a video which looks so so great. I also finally got to see MS MR live on Friday night and they were excellent. Brought down however by overhearing a woman afterwards saying that not only did she not enjoy it (which is fine, you can’t please everybody), she thought they were “bad”. People who have no appreciation for good things should not be allowed to see good things because they are simply just not worthy. I would go on a lone crusade across the globe for MS MR, I really would.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #43

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

Another fairly dull week in the life of Natalie, although I did get to see Tove Styrke with Years & Years and Brawlers alongside The Hell. Apart from that I have so little to report this week. I'm also so hungry right now that concentrating on thinking of interesting things to say is proving tricky. Not that it really makes any difference to anybody reading this, but I have a super busy couple of weeks lined up starting tomorrow, so hopefully there will be loads of cool stuff to report at the end of November.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
Remember how much I love Erik Hassle? Well the Swedish singer features on the first new track we’ve had from Bondax for a little while. I would assume that this is probably taken from a new Bondax album but really who knows! Regardless, Erik Hassle possesses the ability to make anything sound like an absolute dream.

Monday
When I first heard ‘Without You’ just before the release of Oh Wonder’s debut album last month, I was so gutted that I hadn’t been able to post it on here. But now I can because it’s a fully fledged single with a video and everything. ‘Without You’ is definitely one of the standout Oh Wonder tracks thus far and now even more people can have the pleasure of listening to it.

Tuesday
I’m a huge fan of the few tracks that Anne-Marie features on taken from the new Rudimental album, but I hadn’t rrrreally been into her solo stuff… until now. I always say how much I enjoy songs that tell a story and ‘Boy’ is no different. It’s just such a nice fun track… a bit like if Little Mix were a solo act and a whole lot edgier.

So last week Alessia Cara announced that her debut album Know-It-All is set for release on 13th November. Yes, in two weeks time the teenage Canadian songstress will unleash her first ever full length record. ‘Wild Things’ is the first track to be strictly taken from said album. Although… the first half of the album is just the Four Pink Walls EP. I don’t rate this approach at all - it seems like they’re unnecessarily pushing albums out to capitalise on current hype and Q4. Bu at least this song is cool.

Wednesday
Imagine a human being went and combined two songs that I absolutely loathed into one song that I thought was really great. Well, Brayton Bowman has done exactly that. For fear of absolutely ruining everything I’m very concerned of saying too much. Essentially, this is a really great mashup of What Do You Mean and Hotline Bling that is 100% worth a listen.

Throwback Thursday
Absolutely in love with the horrendous quality of this video and the audio. Shout out to 2006. Paolo Nutini was one of my favourites as I stepped in to my teenage years, I remember listening to his debut album ‘These Streets’ on repeat for days. I’ve also never really gotten over how much of a bitch I think Jenny is, what was she thinking?!

Friday
I first met Crvvcks about a year and a half ago when they were a duo and they’d just put out ‘Luv U’ which is still one of my favourite tracks on WIIHAMB ever. Since then, Joe has kept the Crvvcks dream alive on his own and has been working with some exciting names including Bipolar Sunshine and as you can see below, Javeon. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Crvvcks is one to watch.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #42

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

On this particular Sunday, the clocks has gone back and I have a stomach bug. YAY! This stomach bug has already prevented me from attending two shows this weekend and I'm becoming ever anxious that I won't make it to Years & Years on Tuesday either. That would be really awful for numerous reasons. Another thing to add to the list of dumb things I didn't do: go and see Leks Rivers on Monday. And I'm so so so annoyed at myself, surprise surprise. I'll get over it eventually, in the meantime, let's ponder the week that was.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
I provide to you yet another song that every other blog has already shared: Here is Jack Garratt’s ‘Breathe Life’. The multitalented musician has plenty in the pipeline, with the announcement of his debut album ‘Phase’, set for release in February, as well as a headline show at London’s Brixton Academy. 2016 is set to be an even bigger year for Garratt than 2015 has been and we’re not even there yet.

Monday
I love Alessia Cara, she’s literally the only person on this planet who has made ‘Hotline Bling’ even mildly bearable for me so imagine how stoked I was when I saw that she’d covered Nick Jonas’ ‘Levels’. I reckon that really, Alessia Cara could probably sing absolutely anything and make it sound incredible. How much would I need to pay her in order to get her to cover every song ever? Also, later this week we learnt her debut album is being released in three weeks. What?

Tuesday
Today I listened to Olivver the Kid’s new EP The Boy Who Cried Wolf and uncovered a new found appreciation for the songs which I’d already heard that are taken from it. ‘World On Fire’ is one of those, and it’s really cool. Essentially, there’s no way that anybody who likes The Neighbourhood could not like this. That kind of multi-genre-crossover thing done really well.

Wednesday
Callum Meadows Mcnab AKA MDWS is from Brisbane and ‘Heartbreak’ is his debut single. Didn’t I say something a little while ago about the excellent quality of new artists creeping out of Australia? The influences on MDWS’ Facebook page read like an absolute dream as well: Caribou, Flume, Gallant, Frank Ocean. The best bit is, there’s an EP on the way before the end of the year - praise the lord!

Avid Sunset Sons fans (i.e. the likes of me) will be aware that ‘On The Road’ featured on the four-piece’s secret/pretend-it-didn’t-exist Le Surfing EP which was released early last year. ‘On The Road’ follows ‘She Wants’, which also featured on the hush hush EP, and is accompanied by an apt video of Sunset Sons being on the actual road.

Throwback Thursday
I can not believe that I haven’t already posted this. I know I said that last week but I genuinely thought I’d already tbt’d this song. A few searches later and it would appear not. I wanted ‘Everything’ to be so huge, and it just didn’t make it which to this day still leaves me really gutted and mildly infuriated. I think that this is dance meets pop at its finest, and although the video is too peculiar for words, the song is fantastic. Another sad story of the music industry.

Friday
We have another ‘Love Myself’ case on our hands, a song that I didn’t think was that great until I saw other people talking about how great it is. I think maybe it’s just not what I expected from Snakehips. I do feel very Alessia Cara ‘Here’ about this track in that it just GETS ME. I really hope that there’s a video for ‘All My Friends’ and that it’s as perfect as ‘Here’s video was.
*EDIT* Since posting (on Friday) this has all changed and the track below is only the first minute and a half of this song... so you know, listen to it on your preferred music service...

Saturday
Delilah? Delilah… is that really you? This is not how I thought we’d hear new material from Delilah but I’m so glad it is. I’ve been obsessed with mysterious ensemble Ritual for a while now, and their wispy eerie vibes. The more I think about it, there’s probably absolutely no one better in the entire world that they could have collaborated with than Delilah.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #41

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

I don't have much to report this week. My podcast obsession is about to reach an unhealthy height. So much so that I'm not sure how or when I'll be able to listen to the horrendous amount of new album releases from the this week. Also... no that's about it. I haven't done anything this week, well, anything remotely interesting. I'm trying to come up with a new feature thing, to do with playlists and food but it's far harder than I initially thought it would be.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
‘Sink with the Snakes’ is in a league of its own and is genuinely up there amongst the best songs that Fightstar have ever released. I did find the slow main chorus part a little disappointing though, I don’t feel like there was any need to slash momentum like they did, but that aside this is absolutely excellent.

Monday
Frankmusik has a new album, it’s called ‘For You’ and it came out last week and it’s really good. ‘I Remember’ is a single from said album and it’s EXCELLENT. I’m really hung up on the fact that Frankmusik is still producing great music but no one’s really paying attention. It’s kind of heartbreaking to see so much hype around an artist on their debut that just trails off on their later material even though the music doesn’t dip in standard at all. Also, check out some of Vincent's responses to the comments on this video.

Tuesday
Unlike all the tracks we’ve heard from Kiiara previously over the last few months, I didn’t immediately fall in love with ‘Intention’. But over the last seven days I’ve grown to really enjoy it. ‘Intention’ is more sultry than her previous tracks, definitely more of a slow jam kind of vibe. Kiiara is building up quite an impressive catalogue, maybe/hopefully we’ll see some sort of EP from her soon *fingers crossed*

Wednesday
Is this real? Is ‘Something New’ actually real life? How can something that sounds this huge be a debut track? Who are these guys? How did they come up with this? Why do I have so many questions? Whilst deliberating various combinations of those aforementioned questions, I thought ‘Something New’ sounded quite similar to Fun. And I mean “Fun” as in the band, and actually Secret Weapons are supporting Nate Ruess (of Fun) on tour in November. Seems fitting.

Throwback Thursday
I can not believe that I hadn’t posted this song before now… have I been high this whole time?! I seem to learn(/refresh my memory) a lot about deaths/hiatuses whilst researching for TBT things. Today’s example of this is that I did not realise Scissor Sisters were on hiatus. How can they even? Imagine dropping an album with a song like ‘Let’s Have A Kiki’ on it and then being like “nah… we’re gonna give this a rest for a little while”. NOT. AN. OPTION.

Friday
‘Soho Knights’ is really complex but in such a beautiful way. I had to sit down and listen to this and so few artists are making music that you really need to concentrate on at the moment. Leks Rivers’ video for ‘Soho Knights’ is great as well. I’ve been trying to find a way to describe it, but if you grew up in the 90s there’s no way you won’t appreciate its entire vibe.

Saturday
Absolutely ages ago I did an interview with Press To Meco. They released their debut this week so I felt as though it was only fair that I got around to posting this. You can read the interview in full here and you can listen to some excerpts from the interview below.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #40

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

Week 40?! Oh ma gahd. It's practically 2016. The mere thought of end of year posts gives me the shakes. This week my podast game has been strong. I've started listening to Undisclosed which is a sort of continuation of Serial and I am now fully obsessed. Also this week I went to see Huntar and Elohim at New Shapes, and Senses Fail and Counterparts. I was so excited about Senses Fail, I've loved that band for about eight years and never seen them live, and they did not disappoint. I also might go and see Everything Everything tonight. Eclectic.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
Gia Koka describes her music as if Jai Paul and Aaliyah had a daughter but there’s something more mature about ‘FLY-BY-NIGHT’ than to be able to just compare the Dutch artist to others. Fellow Amsterdam based artist Maydien’s Kendrick Lamar-esque verse adds a nice touch here too. The problem is, this song is only two minutes and 20 seconds long, and to be quite honest, I probably would get bored if it was 20 minutes long. (Also free download alert!)

Monday
Whilst Duke Dumont’s recent single ‘Ocean Drive’ is a strong contender for song of the year, ‘Melt’ is another slice of excellence from his latest EP Blasé Boys Club (Pt. 1) which was released last week. ‘Melt’ is far more laidback and probably something that you could put on to “Netflix and chill” to. Although I guess that kind of defeats the point of the Netflix aspect…

Tuesday
This new single from MNEK and Zara Larsson has received some incredible remix treatment from MNEK himself. I know very little about recording and production, but from what I can tell, the vocal parts in this track have been re-recorded which gives this a much more interesting feel than your bog-standard remix. In fact, this almost sounds like an entirely different song.

Wednesday
Glades have this all sewed up, don’t they? This Sydney based trio knew exactly what they were doing from the get go. Hit us with a brilliant Troye Sivan cover a few weeks ago and then punch us with their own new single ‘Her (Loving You)’. In the words of DJ Khaled himself, “you smart” Glades.

Throwback Thursday
I think I first heard Story Of The Year on One Tree Hill. The more I think about it, One Tree Hill actually opened my eyes up to a lot of music I never would have found otherwise, which is really cool. The song on OTH was actually ‘Sidewalks’ buuuuut I’m posting ‘The Antidote’ because reasons.

Friday
There’s something about Scandinavian pop music that gives it a cut above pop music from everywhere else - Erik Hassle, Tove Lo, Tove Styrke, Chinah to name but a few, and now we have Dagny. This lady’s debut (?…!!) track ‘Backbeat’ shows so much promise. An upbeat, feel good, all round vibe of a track. I’ll tell you right now, Dagny, I really do want to dance some more.

Saturday
What's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 Got To Do With It?
I’ve written something a little different to what I usually write about, because I’m really obsessed with my PS4 at the moment and everyone else is really obsessed with slating Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #39

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

What is up, universe? I can now confirm that we are defintiely entering in to Autumn. Everything is pumpkin, no matter where you turn, things are pumpkin, even the new WIIHAMB Twitter logo is pumpkin. DOES ANYBODY ACTUALLY LIKE PUMPKIN?! Because, my argument is, if we did all actually like pumpkin, we'd flavour things with it all year round, not just between September and November. In news of this week, I went to see Leon Bridges for the third time on Monday and I don't know why but Monday now seems like an entire lifetime ago. And I also went to see State Champs last night for the second time on their current European run. It was cool.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
I don’t really know why it took me so long to get into ‘Rewind’ because it’s quite obviously great. Kelela is like a more commercial pop version of FKA Twigs, she has that really cool alternative R’n’B vibe but unlike Twigs you could put a track like ‘Rewind’ on in the club without it needing to be tampered with on a remix front. This song is taken from Kelela’s forthcoming Hallucinogen EP which is out in a couple weeks time.

Monday
Since posting Steven A. Clark’s ‘Can’t Have’ the other month, I have become beyond obsessed with it, so any excuse to post it again really. This remix is really cool, like totally not too overpowering or anything, just rad. BUT I am really sad because as you can see above, Clark’s album ‘The Lonely Roller’ is supposedly out on 18th September, which is true, for places that aren’t Europe. So I’m over here in the UK having to wait until mid-November which is quite honestly excruciating.

Tuesday
I really love Lauv and the songs he does and the vibe that surrounds said songs. Lauv AKA Ari Leff released his debut EP ‘Lost In The Light’ last week, and amongst previous singles 'The Other' and 'Reforget', the EP features this track, 'Comfortable'. ‘Comfortable’ is a continuation of what we’ve already heard, in a super sultry pop/RnB vibe kind of way. Super sweet EP over all, would definitely recommend.

Wednesday
SEPTEMBER ROUND-UP
I changed how this happens slightly again, but I'm really into it this month. A pit stop tour of cool songs and some cool things that happened last month, along with some wit and sarcasm courtesy of yours truly.
Throwback Thursday
I remember buying this on CD single when I was like 13/14 and leaving it on the table hoping that my mother would be super impressed with my sick music taste. She did enquire as to whose it was, but unfortunately didn’t show as much passion for the cause as I’d hoped. That aside, many years on, this song is still excellent.

Friday
IT’S FRIDAY, holler at WIIHAMB for your vibes to kick off the weekend. ‘Bad’ is US DJ duo Lost Kings’ debut original track and it sounds 10/10 club smash great. Like on that scale of YAS! to YAAAAAS!!!, this is a solid YAAAAS!!. Newcomer Jessame’s vocals suit this so well too, and I don’t know what a “bad mama jama” is but nor do I really give a fuck to be quite honest. Reckon I’d like these guys to be quite big.

Saturday
Rest assured, this isn’t another cover of the now 32 year old Rufus/Chaka Khan hit. Produced by both TCTS and Karma Kid, this ‘Ain’t Nobody’ is the new single from Kate Stewart - also known in the professional music metadata world as KStewart. Although ‘Ain’t Nobody’ isn’t the most groundbreaking song you’ve ever heard, the feel good vibes alone, not to mention Stewart’s excellent vocals, are enough to make this an addition to your party playlist.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #38

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

I am so unbelievably tired. I'm currently trying to catch up on the sleep I missed last Saturday night and it's really just not working out for me. I went and saw Chinah play The Lexington on Thursday which was super cool, they were so good, and now all that I am is annoyed that I could have seen them twice this month. I saw State Champs as well, which was cool because I don't really go to that many rock things anymore and for some reason I'm seeing them again next Saturday too - yolo right?
Everything this week is "excellent" - no really, I actually used that word in every post.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
Erik Hassle, I have no idea what you’re doing or how you’re doing it but it sounds incredible. I always feel sad about Erik Hassle, I feel like he should be a much bigger global pop success than he is. Especially when you just roll out tracks like ‘Natural Born Lovers’. I've been absolutely rinsing this all week because it's just so excellent. There's also now an official video for this which is great.

Monday
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get around to posting this new Lostboycrow song. ‘Powers’ may be the strongest vocal performance we’ve heard from the Californian so far, which is pretty impressive because everything else we’ve heard so far has been excellent. Forever stoked on Lostboycrow.

Ellie Goulding can do and will never do no wrong. ‘On My Mind’ is just another slice of pop masterpiece from Goulding’s ever-growing catalogue of excellence. I don’t think that this is much of a drastic change of direction for her either. Of course it’s very different from anything on ‘Lights’ but it’s not miles away from Halcyon’s sound overall. Not one iota of me is going to be able to wait patiently for her album which is due for release at the start of November.

Tuesday
Once I got into it, I really enjoyed some of Troye Sivan’s recent Wild EP, including but not limited to this track ‘Fools’. But it did take me a little while to get past the fact that it was Troye Sivan. Overall the EP seemed much more mature than what I thought he was capable of releasing. Glades are a Sydney based The XX/Chvrches-esque trio and their cover of ‘Fools’ is absolutely stunning. And it’s also available as a free download on Soundcloud, BONUS.

Wednesday
Samm Henshaw’s debut EP The Sound Experiment finally saw its actual real life release this week! ‘Autonomy (Slave)’ features on that EP and it's really cool, as is all of Samm Henshaw’s music. Henshaw’s vocals in particular are so strong and pretty unique, there aren’t many people so young coming out with this calibre of music. Henshaw is also playing some headline dates at the start of November - great news!

Throwback Thursday
This week Evanescence’s ‘Bring Me To Life’ led me to create a playlist which I called Manson & Friends, featuring a load of good and bad 00′s rock. I was reminded of this song by Stone Sour. I want to say it was their debut single? Regardless, eight years on it still sounds excellent.

Friday
TÄ€LÄ€ and MssingNo are both London based artists who have paved an amazing platform for Korean girl group WA$$UP’s to storm into our lives. I enjoy K-pop as a standalone thing anyway, but when it’s entwined into a track like this that’s almost “gritty” in an electronic pop crossover way, it sounds so excellent.

Saturday
I’m a little muddled about Etham’s back story but the bottom line is that ‘Cold Love’ is the first song to be taken from a new project courtesy of the London based artiste. ‘Cold Love’ is probably one of the most mature tracks I’ve heard this week - and I don’t really know what that means, but mature feels like a good word to use to describe this song. Etham’s vocals are excellent and there’s a perfect balance of guitar solo that doesn’t make the song feel self-indulgent at all.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #37

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

Another cool couple of shows this week in the form of Oh Wonder's live debut and Hildamay's not reformation (???). Also it would appear that Alexisonfire are officially a band again, which really agitates me, and I may or may not, realistically I probably won't, do a post about that. I may also do a post about Chloe Grace Moretz and the music she likes and how she goes about posting it... but then again I also probably won't. Let's get on with this shall we.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
I’ve heard a few Ava James songs over the past couple of months and they were good but I wasn’t hooked… until I heard ‘Between Sheets’. There’s no question about the calibre of artists James is working with on the prodcution side of things. On previous tracks she’s paired up with Tropics and Maths Time Joy, and now Leo Kalyan has taken the reins. James’ voice is huge and undeniably the focal point of this song. Who knows what could be next for this London based 21 year old.

Monday
Oh so you like Florence + The Machine, but you don’t like listening to Florence + The Machine songs? That sounds weird, but it’s a thing I suffer from. And luckily Fours are here to cure this horrible disease. Frontwoman Edith Violet’s vocals are very reminiscent of Welch’s and matched with bouncy indie-pop the result is magical. Along with this track, ‘Leave Me’, the other two tracks from Fours’ Everything I Never Said EP are also on their Soundcloud page and they are both great. I really didn't give 'Leave Me' enough credit in my original post, the song, the lyrics, everything are so so so great. I've genuinely listened the Fours' EP about 30 times this week.

Tuesday
“Zara Larsson? Natalie, are you sure?” Believe me, I was skeptical, I mean, I thoroughly enjoy MNEK’s music but I’m not a Zara Larsson fan. Upon listening to ‘Never Forget You’ everything I ever thought I believed flew, darted, in fact, out the window. This. Is. A. Banger. It builds like the most perfect pop song should. A duet that you just had no idea would work AND IT DOES. More excellent random collabs in the future please, universe.

Wednesday
AQUILO GOES POP. And it’s alright, you know. I’m not in love with the chorus, but this seems like a cool direction for the duo and for the album that they’re apparently making. This song is actually far better than I’ve made out in this post, it is really good, you should listen to it, you might as well, it's right here.

Throwback Thursday
Listening back to Hadouken in 2015 is very peculiar and the first question you find yourself asking is “did I really used to enjoy this?”. I think I did, which is absolutely mind-blowing. ‘House Is Falling’ along with that ingenious 90s sample on ‘Mic Check’ are the only two Hadouken songs that are worth listening to five years on. ‘House Is Falling’ should have been a huge hit really, actually a genuinely great pop/dancerock (or whatever genre this is, post-grindie?) crossover. Ah well.

Friday
It’s fair to say that I was quite excited when I saw that Great Good Fine Ok had put out a new song. The Brooklyn based duo only release tracks that make you want to walk down the street pretending you’re in an epic summer music video even when it’s monsoon weather (a la London right now) and ‘Take It Or Leave It’ is no different. Their vocals are always really strong too, soft effortless tones that blend so well with the rest of everything.

Saturday
Don’t be fooled, Keyes’ ‘Black Magic’ isn’t a cover of the latest Little Mix single, although I have no doubt that that would sound excellent. ‘Black Magic’ is in fact Keyes’ follow up to previous single ‘Veins’ which I posted and I loved, and I still love. I had no idea that Keyes was from the UK (I bet I did, and I’d just forgotten) but it’s cool that someone new and not from the US is making fun pop songs like this.

Finally a Disclosure song from the new album that I like, and there’s not even a guest feature! Howard Laurence himself takes on vocal duties on ‘Jaded’ and it’s so much better than any of the tracks the brothers took sole control of on their debut. I’m hopeful that some of the songs on their upcoming album ‘Caracal’ will be equally as good as this is.

ICYMI - This Week on WIIHAMB - 2015 Week #36

In case you missed it - You shouldn't have, but just in case you did.

Gig drought has ended and this week I've never felt more like a legit music blogger (I'm sure I probably have but whatever) because I went to see both Alessia Cara and Halsey play their first shows in London. Along with those I've had some not okay cold/flu like symptoms causing me to bail  on a couple of other gigs but you can't have it all, can you? Batman Arkham Knight has also taken over my life recently so forgive me for the #content recently - the songs are still great, just the writing is more rushed.

Keep up to date with all of the daily goings-on over at WIIHAMB Daily.

Sunday
Some times I do really dumb things. This was one of those times because I did not go and see Danish three-piece Chinah play this month’s New Shapes. I'm annoyed with myself. ‘We Go Back’ is only the second track Chinah have shared online, following up from ‘Away From Me’ a couple of months ago. If both of these songs are any sign of what’s to come from this trio, we should be in for a real treat.

Monday
So I posted Transviolet’s debut track ‘Girls Your Age’ a little while ago and it was by far my most popular post to date. WHICH WAS REALLY COOL. This is the four-piece’s follow up track and it’s a lot more “pop”, which I’m really into. I don’t think I would have liked ‘Girls Your Age’ as much as I did if it weren’t for the lyrical content, but I prefer ‘Bloodstream’ overall much more, it’s more of a #banger - like, more Halsey, less Lana Del Rey.

I’m still waiting for the ‘Elevated’ from this second State Champs album, you know, THE BANGER. ‘All You Are Is History’ is far closer to rock hit status than the other couple of tracks we’ve heard so far, much closer. I do take issue with an aspect of the video though… in 2015, who still owns one of those huge camcorders and a VCR?! We’re in a digital age. I would have smashed that up too and just recorded the video on my phone and Whatsapped it to Derek.

Tuesday
Honne seem to have a lot of songs about jetsetting. In ‘No Place Like Home’ in particular it’s 2am in Tokyo. From this and ‘Coastal Love’ from the duo’s fist EP, we can only assume that the pair (and maybe even Jones as well) are very well travelled. This song is really nice, but it’s quite mellow and I’m currently trying to work out if it counts as a ballad or not, because we all know that I don’t like ballads, but I do like this, so I’m not really sure where I stand. ‘No Place Like Home’ is taken from Honne’s second EP ‘Over Lover’ which came out last week and is £2 on iTunes!

Wednesday
Every other blog ever has already posted this so I thought I would post it like a year later too. (This track was only uploaded like a week ago so I’m not actually late at all.) And, also, don’t get me wrong, I’m not posting this because everybody else has, I’m posting it because it’s great. It’s quite Oh Wonder, a little, like, if you like Oh Wonder, realistically, you’re probably going to like this. Both Tep No and Heather Janssen are from Canada, which is nice isn’t it, music from Canada that isn't Drake, The Weeknd or Justin Bieber.

Throwback Thursday
In all honesty, asking the office what track I should post for TBT always ends in disaster and leads to a really long winded journey to the song I actually end up posting. Today was no different. And today, we were led to the real MVP Mary J. Blige and her ‘Family Affair’.

Friday
Upon hearing ‘Do It Well’ for the first time I decided on a new judging system for tracks - AS I DO EVERY TIME I POST TOM ASPAUL. I thought, from now on I’ll rate every track on a scale of ‘YAS!’ to ‘YAAAAAS!’. I then soon decided that this was a ridiculous idea and it was binned soon after I rated ‘Do It Well’ a strong YAAAAS! This track fits the mood perfectly as we cling on to the final morsels of summer 2015 this weekend.

Saturday
Back when SG Lewis released the first track from his Shivers EP, ‘No Less’, I saw that there was a JP Cooper collab to follow and I was #stoked. The press release refers to ‘Shivers’ as a “piano-lead ballad” which is awful news because we all know I loathe ballads… but under WIIHAMB rules I am declaring this not a ballad and actually thoroughly enjoyable. SG Lewis is playing his debut live show for New Shapes on 4th November… which is excellent news, UNLESS LIKE ME YOU’RE SEEING JACK GARRATT THAT NIGHT AND IT’S ACTUALLY TERRIBLE NEWS. However, if you are free, you should go, it’s £4 and you can get a ticket on Dice <3 data-blogger-escaped-br="">
